01Financing
The loan, in plain numbers.
Three numbers decide a car payment: what you borrow, for how long, and at what rate. Set the first two here and see the third at work before you fill in anything.
$Estimated monthly payment
02The same loan, four lengths
Shorter or longer?
A longer term lowers the payment and raises what the loan costs. This table recalculates from the numbers above: $40,000 borrowed at the estimate’s 7.0%.
Computed with the calculator’s own formula. The highlighted row is the term picked above.
03Before you fill it in
What the form asks, and why.
An application is a short list of facts a lender needs. Nothing on it is there to sell you anything. Leave a line empty if you don’t have it to hand.

06Questions
Money questions.
Q1Is the 7.0% in the calculator my rate?
No. It is a fixed figure the calculator uses so the estimate means the same thing for everyone. Your rate is set by the lender.
Q2Will an application show on my credit file?
That depends on how the lender checks your file. Ask us before you send the form and we will tell you which kind of check applies.
Q3Can I apply before I have picked a car?
Yes. Leave the car lines empty and tell us a budget when we speak.
Q4Can I pay the loan off early?
Early repayment is a term of the loan itself, so it is set by the lender. It is written into the offer you are shown.
